Working alone @ ETH

There is an official ETH document to inform about working alone at ETH:

Based on that the coming GSV-System for IBK labs will include rules for working alone and outside lab working hours.

Basic Principle: Working alone is not permitted whenever the work could lead to injuries which would necessitate the immediate help of a second person

Orderliness

The cleanliness of workplaces has a direct impact on safety. Keep your project area clean and tidy and put unused material in its place.

GSV system

ETH introduced an end-​to-end safety organisation. It is implemented using the “GSV” system: in future, group safety representatives (GSVs) will be appointed as contacts for occupational safety and health protection in the research groups and courses.

A new safety concept for IBK is in progress and has to be sent to SGU until 9th of May 2024. At IBK there are three GSV-groups:

• FireSimulator

! Access to HIF laboratories !

After HIF is refurbished, the access to the laboratories (area of Bauhalle) will only be possible with using your badge. An authorization must be obtained beforehand – this is how it goes:
(1) go to https://gmis-prd-m.ethz.ch/
(2) Choose “Antrag für elektronischen Zutritt für ETH Angehörige”
(3) Give details: Gebäude: HIF, Etage / Raum: HIF Zone 104, Befristung: <2years, Schlüsseldelegierter: Dominik

Group safety representatives

ETH introduced a new safety regulation which demands group safety representatives in all groups. The first task of the IBK GSVs is, to organize the creation of a group-specific safety concept (SaCo) according to EKAS regulations. Bauhallenteam will start to create an IBK template based on the existing safety concept. More information here:

Always make sure that you inform Bauhallenteam if you have orders directly send to Bauhalle. And don’t forget to add your name on the delivery bill!

Christmas cleanup

As every year there will be a christmas cleanup in the last December weeks. We also ask all project members to organize cleaning of their environment till mid of December already. This includes also experiments outside Bauhalle!

• Crane south (10t) in Bauhalle will be refurbished in the first half of May 2023
• Kleine Bauhalle will not be finished before July 2023
• Delivery space (Anlieferung 27) is still strongly influenced by site works
