• HIGH SEASON – Until end of June 2023 we have many active projects in Bauhallle. Make sure to inform Bauhallenteam about support tasks early and do a a well thought out planning.

Experimental research duties

Because of some incidents lately we have to remind you about duties and safety when doing experimental research at IBK.

HIF (+) restoration

HIF+ Information Site

• Area 3.3 is closed till end of November 2023.
• Current Situation:
  In area 3.1 & 3.2 ininfluences of the construction site must be expected (construction traffic, noise, dirt).
• Crane south (10t) in Bauhalle will be refurbished in the first half of May 2023
• Kleine Bauhalle will not be finished before July 2023
• Delivery space (Anlieferung 27) is still strongly influenced by site works

HPQ construction works do influence the nothern part of HIF, especially deliveries from Gustave-Naville Weg. More information can be found in the link below:

UPDATE

• HIF phase 2: Laboratories and building area is almost finished – projects can be interrupted by construction workers.
• Phase 3.2 will be handovered by March 3rd. Nevertheless there are ongoing construction works.
• Phase 3.3 already started which means, that area 3.3 is closed till end of November 2023.

Current Situation

• experimental research can be performed in Bauhalle (Area 3.1 & 3.2 including both strong floors) and in the side labs HIF C34 & C36. Use the middle corridore to enter Bauhalle. The “small Bauhalle” is still under conctruction until June 2023.

  Construction workers will be working in laboratories which can be disturbing.
• Couryard must still be used to enter HIF. PAY ATTENTION to constructio works.
• Phase 3.2 in Bauhalle will be ended by end of FEBRUARY 2023.
  Therefore support is limited due to relocation work!

• HIF phase 2 has officially ended.
  Nevertheless the area and especially laboratory rooms of IBK are not yet fully usable.
  We expect to be ready by end of February 2023.
• Couryard must still be used to enter HIF. PAY ATTENTION to constructio works.
• Phase 3.2 in Bauhalle will be ended by end of FEBRUARY 2023. In January Bauhallenteam will already begin to clean area 3.3 which then will be refurbished till November 2023.
  Therefore support is limited!

UPDATE

• ALWAYS kay attention to the construction works if you visit Bauhalle, especially when crossing the couryard HIF.
• Entering Area 3.2 is NOT allowed without approval of Bauleitung. Between area 3.1 and 3.3 the tunnel can be used for transportation. Persons only have to take a foodwald around HIA and enter HIF in floor B.

Schedule refurbishment Bauhalle:

• 16th December – LOOKING FORWARD
  This is the official date for the opening of part 2 of HIF renovation which includes the IBK side labs HIF C34 and HIF C36.
• HIF phase 3.3
  Phase 3.2 will be ended by end of January 2023. In January Bauhallenteam will already begin to clean area 3.3 which then will be refurbished till November 2023.

UPDATE

• Limitations in storage and experimental space are ongoing
• MAST and LUSET and HEXAPOD are mothballed for phase 3.2 until February 2023. Climate monitoring is performed by IBK.
• Offices Bauhalle – IBK will get two rooms, HIF D80.3 / D80.4 for Bauhallenteam and additional desks. Those can also be used by persons working in Bauhalle.

Schedule refurbishment Bauhalle:

• The main entrance of HIF will be finished till end of October 2022. Till then you have to expect detours.
• HIF phase 2
  By December 16th 2022 the middle tract of HIF will be opened.
• HIF phase 3.2
  Phase 3.2 (middle part of Bauhalle) will be refurbished till end of February 2023!

Safety

The D-BAUG audit sent a report with points to be solved depending safety inside experimental labs. Bauhallenteam is working on it.
There will also be a pilot project of SGU which plans to have group safety officers in the future.

Procurement

SEP-proposal
A prioritized list of planned D-BAUG SEP requests > 50,000 CHF (if known) for 2023 must be submitted to equipment@sl.ethz.ch no later than January 15, 2023. The list must include information on the type of equipment, own contribution (Department, PIs, R’Equip), and expected SEP contribution. Prioritization does not preempt an Equipment Commission decision.
SEP requests from the D-BAUG must be reported to the Department (DP, Coordinator) no later than Tuesday, January 10, 2023 with the necessary information (see above).

UPDATE

• There were and will be several shut offs in the supply of building services in the next weeks!
• Cause of dangerous construction works, parts of HIF building have to be closed in the next weeks. This means that you have to take detours.
• Bauhalle area 3.1 is ready to be used again. There is no compressed air, cooling water and high voltage (400v@400A) yet.
• Limitations in storage and experimental space are ongoing
• MAST and LUSET and HEXAPOD are mothballed for phase 3.2 of the refurbishment. Climate monitoring is solved by IBK.
• Closed room solution for a requested storage room: A solution is found. IBK gets a proper room in HIF floor B, close to the elevator.
• An extension of the Bauhallenoffice with connecting the rooms HIF D80.3 and HIF 80.4 is planned.

The situation on the strong floor for the autumn semester is very busy. Therefore the projects have to be cleanly planned and executed.

From Baukommissionssitzung:

• User of labs are responsible for labeling the entrance doors
• The Pavillons on HPQ are will be demolished from August on, in October HPQ construction will start
• Phase 2 of HIF contruction will be finished in December and is available for use from 16.12.2022! This is also true for the IBK laboratories HIF C34 and C36.
• The new HIF entrance (final version) will be opened by August 2nd.
  This is also the date where Phase 3.1 (Bauhalle) is finished and can be used again.
• There is a new MS-Teams Chat opened for sharing dynamic information of the construciton site. Interested can contact Ela Burmeister or Dominik Werne.

The following list shows open tasks in Bauhalle connected with the HIF refurbishment:

• MAST and LUSET must be protected for phase 3.2. There is no solution yet since the planned contractor has declined.
• A closed room solution for a requested storage room for measurement equipment is rejected by the construction management. We are working on it.
• With the increased Bauhallenteam there is not enough office space.
  An extension of the Bauhallenoffice is planned.
• A desired cleaning space in the HIF courtyard was not realized. The construction management proposes a solution where we should take our casting material to the VAW courtyard for cleaning. This is not accepted by the Bauhallenteam.
