Subgenus Platosmia

The subgenus Platosmia Warncke is confined to the Palaearctic region. It contains 10 species (Müller, 2015a).

Nesting biology: Unknown.

Flower preferences: Oligolectic on Reseda (Resedaceae) and possibly also closely related genera (Müller, 2015a). A pollen load originating from a female collected in spring 2016 in southern Morocco exclusively contained pollen of Peganum harmala (Nitrariaceae), suggesting that H. africana occasionally also collects pollen on plant taxa other than Resedaceae.
