Palaearctic Osmiine Bees

On a worlwide scale, the extant osmiine bees are currently grouped in 15 different genera and 56 non-nominotypical subgenera comprising roughly 1200 species including the still undescribed ones (Michener, 2007; Praz et al., 2008b; Sedivy et al., 2008; Ungricht et al., 2008; Ascher & Pickering, 2014). In the Palaearctic, 10 genera, 34 non-nominotypical subgenera, about 640 described and about 80 still undescribed species occur. Below are listed the species numbers for the osmiine genera and subgenera worldwide (left figure) and in the Palaearctic (right figure), respectively. The approximate number of undescribed species is given in parentheses.
