On a worlwide scale, the extant osmiine bees are currently grouped in 15 different genera and 71 non-nominotypical subgenera comprising roughly 1160 species including the still undescribed ones (Michener, 2007; Praz et al., 2008b, Sedivy et al., 2008, Ungricht et al., 2008). In the Palaearctic, 10 genera, 43 non-nominotypical subgenera, about 590 described and at least 116 still undescribed species occur. Below are listed the species numbers for the osmiine genera and subgenera worldwide (left figure) and in the Palaearctic (right figure), respectively. The approximate number of undescribed species is given in parentheses.
