In general, projects are handled at IT Services according to a uniform, simplified methodology based on Hermes. The PM Handbook of IT Services defines this uniform, binding terminology by describing the phases, milestones, goals and results per phase.

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) is where the new operating systems for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple Watch are announced. The Keynote highlights the new features for the consumer, while sessions through the week provide more details for developers about the new features and how they can implement them in their apps. There is also a small enterprise track, where we learn about new the possibilities and challenges of managing Apple devices.

The latest revision of the BOT (ETH Zurich Acceptable Use Policy for Information and Communications Technology) was put into effect as of June 1st, 2021. It is worth mentioning that it now also applies to cloud solutions.

Review of Informatiktage 2021
Following the cancellation at short notice of the ETH programmes in 2020 due to COVID-19, this year IT Services and the D-INFK department chose to realise digital programmes from the very start.
Second Round of ETH Smart Working Training Days
At the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021, IT Services rolled out a training programme on Microsoft 365 and Teams under the title «Smart Working». The first round met with considerable interest and the feedback was positive throughout. We have made some adjustments and are now launching the second round of Smart Working.

IT Training: System Technology becomes Platform Development / Faces in IT
The current four-year IT apprenticeship was revised and orientated more around the future requirements of economics and administration. Therefore, as of summer 2021, the IT Training Lab of ETH Zurich is providing training in the two areas of IT specialisation: “Application Development” and “Platform Development”.
