The new application «Provis», which will be used to manage the building projects of the Real Estate department, was launched on 22 August. The functions of this application will support users with the development and financial management of building projects as well as with controlling activities.
The conference Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) is the biggest annual forum for bioinformatics and IT related to life sciences. Every second year the conference is held in Europe and combined with European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB). This year ISMB/ECCB location was Prague. Informatiktage 2017 was a complete success. Around 50 IT companies and organisations within the Zurich region opened their doors to the general public for two days.
As reported by the media Switzerland obtained the 3rd rank in the Top500 (https://www.top500.org/lists/2017/06/) list of the fastest computers published at this years ISC High Performance conference. The supercomputer Piz Daint at CSCS (Centro Svizzero di Calcolo Scientifico) is maintained by our colleagues in Lugano, who also brought in their experiences to co-design and improve the system.
