ETH Programs of Informatiktage cancelled
For almost a year, preparations at IT Services and D-INFK of ETH Zürich have been running at full speed: From March 23 to 28, we had the Informatiktage 2020 coming up. They have now been cancelled due to the current development of corona virus COVID-19 and the instructions of the Swiss Federal Office for Health.
Since 2016, the Informatiktage are carried out annually in Zurich. They give a platform to businesses, organisations and universities to open up the portal to the world of IT for the general public. IT Services and D-INFK were ready with numerous interesting program items. For example a tour to the data center, programming-workshops and different info-stands. Our program has generated a great interest: Many of our events were booked in a very short time. The program was addressed to private individuals and school classes.
ETH Zurich has now decided, alonside with many other organizers, to cancel their Informatiktage for safety reasons. The official notification of ETH on the Informatiktage website is as follows (translated):
Thank you for your interest or registration for our events within the framework of IT-Days/Informatiktage. By taking into consideration the current development of COVID-19, the last information from the Swiss Federal Office for Health and ETH-internal instructions and suggestions, we have reluctantly decided to renounce the carrying out of our events. This is primarily happening to protect you, your social surroundings and especially risk groups. Your health and safety are our top priority.
The events for schools will be postponed.
A big thank you goes out to everyone involved in the organization and planning of this event. We also want to thank everyone who was willing to help us out in the week oft he IT-Days.
