BootRobot launched

An exciting project to enhance student computer labs has been completed.

The multi-boot environment in computer labs presents several challenges: Constantly changing end users who can choose to boot either Windows or Fedora require Windows patch- and update management. Additionally, besides the regular Linux diskless environment a specific Linux exam environment must also be provided. In order to satisfy various requirements, new solutions were necessary.

ITS Participation

The following ITS divisions were heavily involved with the necessary reprogramming.

  • ITS Software Services: SW Project Services (project management) Identity/Access Management & eServices (development)
  • ITS User Services: Client Delivery (requirements documentation, testing) Hosting (setup3.ethz.ch)
  • ITS Service Delivery: Managed Services (user role old + new version, requirements documentation, testing)
