ETH Zurich Goes Mobile

There is a new ETH Zurich Market  for all “mobile platforms”.

IT Services Support

The IT Services at ETH Zurich offers assistance to students and staff with the development and deployment of apps. The ITS provides the required interfaces to centralized applications at ETH Zurich, helps clarify technicalities with Corporate Communications (HK), ETH transfer and other contacts and establishes contact with stores.

Markets

The IT Services have launched, or respectively adopted from D-MTEC, a market for Android and Windows apps under the label “ETH Zurich”. The Windows app “pocketETH” is available in the Windows Store. The Apple App Store at ETH Zurich is also managed by the ITS and has been in service since February 2011.

  • News: latest news covering successfully completed research and campus life
  • Calendar of Events: all public events that take place at ETH Zurich or organized by  ETH Zurich
  • Maps: maps showing ETH buildings located at Zurich Centre and on the Science City campus at Hönggerberg
  • Canteens: ETH canteen menus updtaed daily
  • People Search: find ETH Zurich staff contact information

The above app is compatible with  both iPhone and iPad.

Globe – the ETH magazine – stay connected

Globe, the new-look magazine of ETH Zurich and ETH Zurich Alumni, is issued jointly by ETH Zurich and the ETH Alumni Association. Globe, the magazine for everyone who wants to keep in touch with ETH Zurich and its alumni is issued quarterly and covers the following topics:

  • the latest in research and teaching
  • depth information on a specific topic
  • information from the Alumni world
  • updates on interesting projects at ETH Zurich

Available in German and English for iPad.

ETH EduApp

ETH EduApp is the mobile application for studying and teaching at ETH Zurich.
  • displays your personal timetable
  • find lecture halls
  • give feedback on courses
  • answer lecturers’ clicker questions
The ETH EduApp assists ETH Zurich students in their student lives and supports interaction during teaching. In addition to the personal timetable which includes all attended courses as shown in myStudies.ethz.ch, the app also provides helpful ETH maps. Lecturers can create clicker questions, which can be answered and the results displayed on the app. In addition, faculty and semester spokespersons can set up back channels for student feedback.The ETH EduApp can also be used as a web application and is available on Android and iOS.
