Organizational restructuring at the IT Services: the new division Service Delivery

Since the first of January 2010, collaboration between the ITS and D-BIOL has been newly regulated and starting July 1st 2010 cooperation with D-GESS will also be further developed. A common aspect that both departments share is a local ITS support group to work onsite at each department.

I have already informed on the above in separate blog posts.

The increased collaboration with these two departments presents us with the opportunity to further develop internal organization. Consequently we plan to build a Service Delivery division (working title).
This division, an outgrowth of the current Helpdesk, will consist of the future service desk, local department support groups and other customer-related services. These include communication, enhanced customer care, project management for standardization projects, as well as other cross-section functions according to ITIL / ISO 20000. Further developments in the future are also possible.
Following the VPPR’s basic decision to proceed in this direction, we are now looking for a division head.
