New application «People Search»

The new ETH Zurich People Search tool will be available starting March 11, 2009.

Application Features:
The following figure illustrates the structure of the People Search standalone Web application:

The following persons can be found by People Search:

All persons registered in the internal ETH phone-database (Aladin) (employees, students, faculty, ETH-related organisations).
All students (including auditors), irrespective of an existing Aladin entry.
All emeriti professors and retired titular professors, irrespective of an existing Aladin entry.

nethz-Login:

After a successful login, the user can download up to 200 records at a time in a tab-delimited format. The appropriate link can be found at the top right hand side of the results list.
On the details page released personal passport photos can be viewed (following authentication, if released for authenticated users only). Please note:
Release of passport photos can be self-managed on the Personal Information page found on the “Data and Addresses” Web application. Changes made are immediately valid.

Data Limits and Paging:

The data limit for this application is as follows: any search result exceeding 1000 records will not be shown and the user will be prompted to limit his/her search.
The application includes paging, 20 records are listed per page. If a search result contains fewer than 200 records, the link “All” on the top right hand side is available. If more than 200 records exist, the link “All” is no longer visible and paging is to be implemented.

telephone numbers registered in Aladin
preferred E-mail
primary ETH affiliation (same as for ETH-card)
Faculty: course units linked to the course catalogue
direct link to Events Calendar search
direct link to ETH Library eCollections search
Professors: CV, description of research area, further information, honours, memberships.

Data Validity:

The information on this application is the product of a specific database process. Internal phone numbers are extracted from Aladin, and supplemented with personal data from the PDB. Mutations are integrated nightly into the PS tool.
On the Personal Data and Addresses page (www.adresses.ethz.ch), ETH Zurich professors, titular professors and professors emeriti can add details, both in English and German, regarding CV, research area, additional information, honours and memberships. Updates can be seen immediately on the details page of People Search.
