ITS Communication has been renamed ICT-Networks
The ICT-Networks division (ITS NET) is responsible for the planning, installation and maintenance of all ETH Zurich data and voice networks.
Change of name in the network domain
To avoid confusion with ETH Corporate Communications and the new ITS specialist team “Marketing & Communication”, the Communication division has been renamed ITS ICT-Networks (ITS NET) as of 1.1.2012. The change of name has no effect whatsoever on the division’s fundamental responsibilities. The ITS Portal name will also be adjusted accordinglywithin the next few weeks, from http://www.komcenter.ethz.ch/ to http://www.netcenter.ethz.ch/ .
Terms adjusted to client
For years the term “ISG” and the http://www.isg-tool.ethz.ch/ have caused confusion among the organizational units. For this reason the «Netsupport-Tool» now has a new URL http://www.netsup.ethz.ch/ (netsup = NET supporter or network support). The name change has no effect whatsoever on processes or responsibilities. The new name includes both data and telephony (decentralized) network supporters. These two functions will be merged together with the current rollout of VoIP phones.
