myContact replaces «Addresses and Personal Data»

A new era begins on 1 October 2025: after more than 20 years, myContact replaces the «Addresses and Personal Data» application.

Am I affected?

This article is particularly interesting for people who have entered information under “CV and additional data” in the «Addresses and Personal Data» web application (see illustration), as this data must be migrated personally.

In brief

After more than 20 years in use, the «Addresses and Personal Data» application will be replaced by the new myContact solution on 1 October 2025. With its four modules – Personal Details and Communication Data, Addresses, Deliveries, and CV and additional data – myContact covers the entire range of functions offered by the previous application and goes even further. Users benefit from an expanded and structured recording of CV data as well as a modern, accessible and responsive design in the ETH corporate look.

Why the replacement?

Technological renewal

The previous solution was based on Java frameworks that had reached their end of life. In addition, the user interface did not comply with current ETH specifications for design, responsiveness or accessibility.
With myContact, a new application has been created that is based on a modern microservice architecture and a Vue3-based front end. This means that myContact fits perfectly into the future integration architecture of the ETH IT Services.
A particular challenge during development was the accessible entry of address data.

New CV concept

CV data could already be entered in «Addresses and Personal Data» and later supplemented by web editors in AEM. However, free formatting often led to inconsistent displays on the ETH websites.
Corporate Communications has therefore developed a new, uniform CV concept. It supports a clearly structured presentation that includes the following:

• Profile picture
• Curriculum vitae in German, English, Italian and French
• Biography, research areas, projects
• Professional experience, publications
• Awards & honours
• Memberships
• Links to social media profiles

From the end of October 2025, CV data from myContact will be visible in AEM.

What will change?

• Instead of Shibboleth, myContact will use the IT services‘ single sign-on (SSO) for login.
• Users will work in a modern single-page application.
• All previous data (except CV) will be automatically transferred.

Important

As the structure of CV data has changed fundamentally, anyone who wishes to continue displaying their personal CV on ETH websites must re-enter their CV data in myContact by the beginning of December 2025 at the latest. What remains the same?

• The URL www.adresses.ethz.ch will continue to redirect to the old application until the end of Q1 2026 so that users can migrate their CV data at their leisure.
• There is a direct link to myContact within «Addresses and Personal Data».
• From Q2 2026, the URL will then finally lead directly to myContact.

myContact not only renews the technological foundation, but also represents an important step towards user-friendliness, accessibility and uniform presentation of ETH profiles.
