Conference track on Natural Language Processing at the Applied Machine Learning Days 2024
Dr Tarun Chadha from the Scientific IT Services (ITS SIS) and Dr Christiane Sibille, the lead of Digital Scholarship Services at the ETH Library, together organized a conference track at the Applied Machine Learning Days 2024 (AMLD 2024), focusing on Natural Language Processing (NLP) within the GLAM sector (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums). Dr Chadha also chaired the track.
The session successfully convened a diverse group of researchers, machine learning (ML) experts, and GLAM professionals dedicated to advancing this emerging field. It showcased the latest NLP applications and underlined the significance of GLAM data collections for the wider AI research community.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr Elliott Ash, Associate Professor of Law, Economics, and Data Science at ETH Zurich’s Center for Law & Economics.
The event featured a lineup of esteemed speakers from a diverse array of institutions, including the Diplomatic Documents of Switzerland, ETH Zurich, EPFL, the State Library of Berlin, the University of Bern, Zurich University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. The track garnered substantial interest, drawing a full audience.
