FIT4Campus – Future use of IT for work and life at Campus
The results of «FIT4Campus» (Future use of IT for work and life at Campus) were presented last Monday. 3267 students attending the ETH participated in the survey (20%).
It was the goal of this study, which was conducted in collaboration with Prof. Gudela Grote (Organization, Work and Technology Group, D-MTEC), to find out more about the way information technology is used by ETH students.
Key findings:
- The students are using IT in very traditional and pragmatic way.
- Wikipedia an videos of lectures at ETH are heavily use for exam preparation
- Facebook is used for private appointments and contacts, but not as a tool for organizing work at the university
- Hardware failure is still the number one reason for buying a new laptop/mobile phone
- The students are very satisfied with the quality of IT services provided by ETH
