ETH Zurich currently has more than 180 trainees covering 15 different vocations. All trainees enjoy a practical programme in which they receive individual support and professional guidance. The way in which they are trained at ETH Zurich has changed continuously over many years. The various apprenticeships also include application development IT technicians with a Federal VET Diploma (EFZ) and platform development IT technicians with an EFZ. A look at the past shows how IT vocational training at ETH Zurich has changed. But what exactly did this training programme look like in the beginning?

ETH is an important pillar in IT education in Switzerland. Every year, about seven out of 170 trainees enter a career in modern technology. Training at ETH is highly regarded and its graduates are excellently educated. But to whom or what is ETH’s success due?

On the 11th march it was that time of year again – the ETH Hönggerberg opened its doors for 2 days to bring school classes closer to computer science and to show them impressions from the everyday life of a student at the ETH Zurich. And it was a huge success!
