Internship experiences or field reports

In many degree programs, students are away from campus for short periods for internships or field work, sometimes in foreign countries. A weblog can help both to reflect on and to preserve valuable experiences and discoveries and to stay in contact with teachers and fellow students on campus.

Why let your students use weblogs in internships or field work phases?

Often, students are very motivated to keep in contact with their fellow students even when they are away from campus for some time. This motivation can be used for learning as well. With a public “field work diary” the acquired knowledge is available also to other students. If accurately kept, a weblog also serves the student to reflect on his or her own work by making visible the progress in time.
