Best poster prize for Turry Ouma at the African Crop Science Society – congratulations!

Last week PhD student Turry Ouma attended the 13th Africa Crop Science Society conference in Maputo, Mozambique. This conference brings together scientists from across Africa to share knowledge and innovations about crops and agriculture in the challenging context of climatic change.

Turry shared that the conference addressed key challenges hindering sustainable agricultural growth in Africa, including food insecurity, low productivity, and the growing impacts of climate change, such as rising temperatures and droughts.

Innovative solutions in crop research are vital, and ACSS serves as a key platform for sharing knowledge and advancing progress. The future of Africa’s agriculture lies in local, dynamic innovations that address both environmental and social challenges.

Turry participated in discussions and presented a poster and an oral presentation about her work on the N2OSSA project. Her poster was clear and eye-catching, and her engaging presentation of the material meant that she was awarded the conference prize for Best Poster. Congratulations Turry!
