Prof. Irish is Chair and Daniel C. Eaton Professor of Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology and Professor of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Yale University. During her doctoral studies at Harvard University and her first post-doc at the University of Cambridge, Prof. Irish’s research focused on the development of the Drosophila embryo. She then moved to Yale University for an NSF-funded post-doc, switching her research focus to the development of the Arabidopsis flower, and later became Professor at the same university. Prof. Irish’s current research adopts a multi-disciplinary approach to understand how plants regulate developmental plasticity to elaborate particular organ types, with a focus on the development of petals.
