{"id":342,"date":"2009-01-22T14:20:03","date_gmt":"2009-01-22T13:20:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wpethzprd.ethz.ch\/osmiini\/?p=342"},"modified":"2009-09-15T16:11:13","modified_gmt":"2009-09-15T15:11:13","slug":"changes-at-generic-and-subgeneric-level","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/osmiini\/2009\/01\/22\/changes-at-generic-and-subgeneric-level\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes at generic and subgeneric level 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>Ceraheriades<\/em> Tkalcu, 1984, formerly treated as subgenus of <em>Chelostoma<\/em> (Michener, 2007; Ungricht et al., 2008), is newly treated as a junior synonym of the subgenus <em>Prochelostoma <\/em>Robertson, 1903:<em> <\/em>a recent phylogenetic analysis of the genus <em>Chelostoma<\/em> on a worldwide scale (Sedivy et al. 2008) revealed a close relationship between the North American <em>Chelostoma (Prochelostoma) philadelphi<\/em> and the eastern Palaearctic <em>Chelostoma (Ceraheriades) petersi <\/em>(=<em> lamellum<\/em>) with respect to morphology, DNA sequences and flower preferences. Thus, their inclusion in two different subgenera is no longer justified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>Chelostoma ventrale<\/em> Schletterer, 1889 is moved from the subgenus <em>Foveosmia <\/em>to subgenus incertum: a recent phylogenetic analysis of the genus <em>Chelostoma<\/em> on a worldwide scale (Sedivy et al., 2008) revealed that this species does not belong to <em>Foveosmia<\/em>. However, its phylogenetic position could not be resolved with certainty. Depending on the analysis, the species was either sister to the subgenus <em>Gyrodromella<\/em> or sister to the clade <em>Gyrodromella<\/em>+<em>Chelostoma<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">A recent molecular phylogeny of the osmiine bees on a worldwide scale (Praz et al., 2008b) revealed that <em>Stenosmia<\/em>, formerly treated as a genus (Michener, 2007; Ungricht et al., 2008), branched off from within the genus <em>Hoplitis<\/em>. Therefore, <em>Stenosmia<\/em> is newly treated as subgenus of <em>Hoplitis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">A recent molecular phylogeny of the osmiine bees on a worldwide scale (Praz et al., 2008b) revealed that <em>Hoplosmia<\/em>, formerly treated as a genus (Michener, 2007; Ungricht et al., 2008), branched off from within the genus <em>Osmia<\/em>. Therefore, <em>Hoplosmia<\/em> is reduced to subgeneric rank in <em>Osmia<\/em>. Acoordingly, the former subgenera <em>Odontanthocopa<\/em> and <em>Paranthocopa<\/em> are put into synonymy with <em>Hoplosmia<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em>Hoplitis oxypyga<\/em> (Benoist, 1927), the only representative of the subgenus <em>Exanthocopa<\/em> Tkalcu, was known so far only in the male sex. Recently, females of this rare North African species were detected (A. M\u00fcller, unpublished). The females are morphologically so close to the females of <em>Hoplitis (Anthocopa) bisulca<\/em> (Gerstaecker, 1869) that they can hardly be distinguished. Therefore, the subgenus <em>Exanthocopa<\/em> is synonymized here with the subgenus <em>Anthocopa<\/em> Lepeletier &amp; Serville (A. M\u00fcller, unpublished).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Michener (2007) included the species that were formerly attributed to the subgenus <em>Micreriades<\/em> Mavromoustakis in the subgenus <em>Alcidamea<\/em> Cresson.
