What do we know about the countries and people whose uprisings have changed the world since December 2011? The activities, that the invited guests, initiated in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Bahrain, Yemen, Switzerland, Greece and Germany reflect both the needs and willingness to engage. In times of peace and conflict, the sexes are exposed to different demands, risks and obligations. The laws and consequences of human rights implementation are constantly renegotiated. But that is not new. WILPF, The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, an international organization based in Geneva, was founded in 1915 during the First World War by 1,200 women from different cultures. Other start-up data from organizations in the following decades are closely linked to historical cuts. Over 100 years of cross-border insights form the basis of the symposium to share achievements and obstacles, methods, resources and potential futures.
