Women protest in Pissoirs

25.09.2017

Out of protest dozens of Dutch women have symbolically taken possession of urinals on Saturday. Recently a Dutch woman got fined because of peeing in a public street in Amsterdam at night. There hadn’t been a public women’s toilet anywhere close explains Geerte Piening. The court on the other hand argued, that she could have used a public urinal. “It may not be pleasant, but it’s possible.” That this is not true Piening wanted to show with her urinal campaign. In the afternoon there were already over 160 pictures contributing on Instagram.  #zeikwijf – most of the posts showing women in gymnastic poses trying to relieve themselves.

In Amsterdam there are 35 public urinals but only 3 public toilets for women.
