{"id":104,"date":"2008-09-17T07:20:48","date_gmt":"2008-09-17T06:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wpethzprd.ethz.ch\/kowalski\/2008\/09\/17\/random-matrices-l-functions-and-primes\/"},"modified":"2024-02-20T13:40:58","modified_gmt":"2024-02-20T11:40:58","slug":"random-matrices-l-functions-and-primes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/kowalski\/2008\/09\/17\/random-matrices-l-functions-and-primes\/","title":{"rendered":"Random matrices, L-functions and primes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This could be the title of a book, of a research paper, but it is really (for the current purpose) the name of the conference that Ashkan Nikeghbali (from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.unizh.ch\/\">Universit\u00e4t Z\u00fcrich<\/a>) and myself are organizing in late October &#8212; from October 27 to October 31, to be precise &#8211;, thanks to the support of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fim.math.ethz.ch\/\">Forschungsintitut f\u00fcr Mathematik<\/a> from ETH Z\u00fcrich.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the late announcement, this has been in preparation for a few months already, but we are both not always the most efficient among organizers. However, there is at last some kind of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.ethz.ch\/~kowalski\/fim-08\/fim-2008.html\">web page<\/a>, although for the moment it is not really more informative than the poster that will soon be printed and distributed everywhere (click for full-size picture):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/kowalski\/files\/2008\/09\/affiche.png\" title=\"Poster for the conference\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/kowalski\/files\/2008\/09\/affiche.thumbnail.png\" alt=\"Poster for the conference\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The chameleon in the picture, in case you are wondering, is one specimen from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zoo.ch\/xml_1\/internet\/en\/application\/d693\/d695\/f696.cfm\">Z\u00fcrich rainforest<\/a>.
