The\nExecutive Board of ETH Zurich has issued the directive «Information\nSecurity at ETH Zurich», which entered into force on 1 May, 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Directive on «Information Security at ETH\nZurich» <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

«ETH Zurich is responsible for assessing the need to protect information held by it which is required for the performance of its duties, as set out in Article 2 of the ETH Act (staff and student data, research data, business-related documents, building plans etc).» (Excerpt RSETHZ 203.25<\/a>) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

«Information\nsecurity is a management responsibility falling to members of the Executive\nBoard and heads of organisational units at ETH Zurich.» The heads of the\nadministrative departments, staff, and the teaching and research institutions\noutside the departments and the department heads each appoint an Information\nSecurity Officer (ISO) for their area of responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tasks and Competencies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Among\nother things, the ISO is the first point of contact for advice and assistance\non all information security issues in his\/her area of responsibility. The\nInformation Security Officer Network (ISO network) brings together the ISOs\nfrom the departments, teaching and research institutions outside the\ndepartments and the central bodies. Representatives of the ISO network meet\nperiodically to exchange information on information security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
