Service Portfolio Adjustment SMS
The SMS web page of ETH Zurich has been shut down since the end of 2015.
ETH members had been making increasingly less use of the SMS web page. The reason for this was undoubtedly that the “SMS” service was already available free or very reasonably from many commercial providers. Mobile messaging apps like WhatsApp, Viber, MessageMe, Snapchat and Threema, etc., contributed to the decline of SMS usage.
We simply followed supply and demand. Maintaining a service that was used by so few made no sense and did not correspond to expenditure and return. As a result of a service portfolio adjustment, we switched off the service at the end of 2015. ETH Zurich is deliberately not offering any alternative, since enough options are already available from various providers.
