{"id":56,"date":"2016-02-19T11:26:10","date_gmt":"2016-02-19T10:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wpethzprd.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/?p=56"},"modified":"2023-05-17T10:49:51","modified_gmt":"2023-05-17T08:49:51","slug":"change-password","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/change-password\/","title":{"rendered":"Changing your password"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You can change your <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>ETH passwords<\/strong><\/span>&nbsp;using the web center at <a href=\"https:\/\/passwort.ethz.ch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/passwort.ethz.ch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>After you logged in, click on &#8220;Self Service&#8221; and then on &#8220;Change password&#8221;. Then select a group of passwords that you want to change (LDAPS, Active Directory, Radius), enter the new password twice and click on &#8220;Save&#8221; (note the policies on bottom).<\/p>\n<p>On the other side you also can change your <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>D-MATH password<\/strong><\/span> (actually for desktop login, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/sftp\/\">sftp<\/a> and some few other applications incl. &#8220;t3&#8221;-applications) using one of the following tools:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you forgot your D-MATH password or you want it to be set the same as the ETH password (actually ETH password for web applications, AAI\/LDAP), you can reset it here:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/isg.math.ethz.ch\/password\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/isg.math.ethz.ch\/password<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you know it and just want to change it, you can still use the old change-password-tool:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/isg.math.ethz.ch\/password-old\">https:\/\/isg.math.ethz.ch\/password-old<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are unsure <a href=\"https:\/\/www.math.ethz.ch\/isg\">write us an email<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1>Possible consequences<\/h1>\n<h2>You have been locked out<\/h2>\n<p>Keep in mind while changing your ETH password for e-mail (Active Directory) that you could be locked out from your mail client, which will keep asking you the password, even if you entered it correctly. To unlock yourself follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Login to the web center:&nbsp;https:\/\/passwort.ethz.ch<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8220;Self Service&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8220;Remove AD Lockout&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8220;Unlock account&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>You can not print anymore (Mac OS X)<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Open &#8220;Keychain Access&#8221; (Schl\u00fcsselbund) &#8211; you can get to it by choosing Utilities (Dienstprogramme) from the Go (Gehe zu) menu in the Finder.<\/li>\n<li>Search for &#8220;pia&#8221; (or more precisely for &#8220;pia01.d.ethz.ch&#8221; which ist the name of the print server).<\/li>\n<li>Delete all entries that you find (right-click &gt; delete).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/files\/2016\/02\/osx_keychain_pia_password.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-491\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/files\/2016\/02\/osx_keychain_pia_password.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"784\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/files\/2016\/02\/osx_keychain_pia_password.png 784w, https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/files\/2016\/02\/osx_keychain_pia_password-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/files\/2016\/02\/osx_keychain_pia_password-768x404.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/files\/2016\/02\/osx_keychain_pia_password-624x328.png 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 784px) 100vw, 784px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Keychain\/Keyring still needs the old password<\/h2>\n<p>While changing the D-MATH password, the Mac OS X Keychain or the GNOME Keyring still needs the old password.
