{"id":328,"date":"2016-11-18T11:48:23","date_gmt":"2016-11-18T10:48:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wpethzprd.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/?p=328"},"modified":"2025-05-16T16:21:50","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T14:21:50","slug":"tango","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/tango\/","title":{"rendered":"Access a remote linux desktop with ThinLinc"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are using a solution based on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cendio.com\/thinlinc\">ThinLinc<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cendio.com\/\">Cendio<\/a> to easily connect to a <strong>remote Linux desktop<\/strong> inside the D-MATH network from anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You need<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>either <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/wifi-vpn\/#wifi\">a Wi-Fi connection at ETH, as described here<\/a> (with the &#8220;math-guest&#8221; profile),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethz.ch\/isgdmath\/wifi-vpn#vpn\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"549\">a working VPN connection to the D-MATH network, as described here<\/a> (with the &#8220;math-guest&#8221; profile)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cendio.com\/thinlinc\/download\/\">a ThinLinc client for your operating system<\/a> (external link)<br>Note: on our managed computers, the ThinLinc client is already installed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If you do not want or cannot install the ThinLinc client on your (private) device, you may try to use it via browser at this URL: <a href=\"https:\/\/tango.math.ethz.ch\">https:\/\/tango.math.ethz.ch<\/a> (the correct Wi-Fi or the VPN connection is still needed!).
