Two teams will be formed from the best eligible participants (enrolled at ETH and meeting the <a href=\"http:\/\/icpc.baylor.edu\/download\/regionals\/rules\/EligibilityDecisionTree-2017.pdf\">eligibility requirements<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The first three eligible participants will form the first ETH team in the Regional Contest. The second ETH team will be formed from the next three eligible participants who are also eligible and willing to compete for ETH next year. In case a participant selected according to this rule solved less than three problems, the committee reserves the right to select another person instead.<\/p>\n<p>Those teams will represent ETH at the Southwestern Europe Regional Contest in Paris, France held on November 25th and 26th. Similar to last years, we are delighted to hold the contest together with EPFL in Lausanne (<a href=\"http:\/\/polyprog.epfl.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\">PolyProg<\/a>, note that the contest is joint, but SWERC teams are not).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule of Local contest: 7 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>11:00<\/strong> Meeting in the VIS Bureau (<strong>CAB E 31<\/strong>), breakfast, late registration.<\/li>\n<li>11:20 Short presentation by Ergon<\/li>\n<li>11:45 Briefing, last questions, seat allocation.<\/li>\n<li>12:00 Dry Run<\/li>\n<li>12:30 Contest starts (CAB H56\/H57).<\/li>\n<li>17:30 Contest ends.<\/li>\n<li>17:40 Announcement of results &amp; Ap\u00e9ro.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>Please <strong>register <\/strong>for the contest here: <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/swerc.hc2.ch\/\">http:\/\/swerc.hc2.ch\/<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Should I show up?<\/strong> Why not? In particular, consider coming if any of the following holds:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have any sort of interest and\/or experience in competitive programming<\/li>\n<li>You are curious after the first weeks of Algolab or Algorithms and Datastructures.<\/li>\n<li>You like mathematical puzzles and don\u2019t mind implementing solutions in C++\/Java.<\/li>\n<li>You simply suspect that this sort of competition might be fun.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are no prerequisites except for basic C++\/Java (in particular basic I\/O and STL in case of C++). Before the contest we will introduce the rules and the system to the newcomers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rules<\/strong>: The local contest is a \u201eclosed-book\u201c competition. No materials are allowed, i.e., no books, cheat sheets, Internet etc. The language references for C, C++ and Java will be available. For the detailed rules, consult \u201e<a title=\"Contest Rules\" href=\"http:\/\/soi.inf.ethz.ch\/%7Eacm\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/rules.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Contest Rules<\/a>\u201e. You may also wish to take a look at the <a href=\"http:\/\/soi.inf.ethz.ch\/%7Eacm\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/TeamManual.pdf\">team manual<\/a> for the judging system.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, note that you need access to the CAB Building. All CS students should be able to access the building with their Legis.
