From Design to Fabrication with AI

RETHINK, August, 20th 2019. RETHINK hosted a workshop of the research group Digital Building Technologies from the Architectural Department on the topic: how can machine intelligence help architects materialize their design visions? Multiple scenarios of AI in architecture were discussed: from an autonomous translation of existing building designs into detailed fabrication-data to active design support to optimize the production workflow. The RETHINK environment allowed researchers in Zurich and Toronto to jointly exchange ideas and freely speculate on how to turn the computer from a simple tool to an active partner within the design process.
