The EvaLiS Team, whose task it was to carry out the system evaluation, met for the last time on 1 December and prepared the recommendation for the Library Management System and Discovery System. Below a chart of the evaluation process which stretched over 5 months (KT = Kernteam, StGr = Steuerungsgremium, VR = Board of Directors of SLSP AG, PL = SLSP Projektleitung)
To celebrate our final meeting, Elena Gretillat, a true Neuchâteloise, invited us to take part in the Genevan tradition of l’Escalade. This annual festival is held in December, celebrating the defeat of the surprise attack by troops sent by Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy during the night of 11–12 December 1602.
Celebrations include a large marmite (cauldron) made of chocolate and filled with marzipan vegetables and candies wrapped in the Geneva colours of red and gold. It is customary for the eldest and youngest in the room to smash the marmite or cauldron, while reciting, „Ainsi périrent les ennemis de la République!“, referring to how Catherine Cheynel, better known as „Mère Royaume“, poured boiling hot vegetable soup on soldiers climbing up the walls of the city (Wikipedia).
In our case the eldest and youngest in the room were Pierre Buntschu, BCU Fribourg, and Basil Marti, UB Basel, who successfully smashed the pot, whilst the rest of us subsequently enjoyed on the shattered remains of chocolate and marzipan.
