Background
A VPPR (ETH Vice-President for Personnel and Resources) delegation of ETH Zurich visited UCL last January and was presented an ambitious new IT Strategy for UCL – SmartIT. It turned out that SmartIT shares a high degree of similarities in many aspects with the newly implemented DBIOL IT strategy in which I played an leading role. Both UCL’s SmartIT project manager and the CIO, and VPPR suggested me to spend some time at UCL with the SmartIT staff to share and exchange strategic views and experience.
