New Projection Screen for the Historic Semper Aula
In recent years ETH Zurich has invested considerable resources for protection and restoration of the historic auditorium, the Semper Aula.
These measures also included the dismantling of outwardly visible multimedia technology. The ITS Multimedia Services was to install a new projection screen to be used only when needed but which would otherwise not disturb the overall historic impression of the room. From the perspective of landmark protectionists as well as the department “Bauten” (Buildings) a ceiling installation was definitely out of the question. The solution would have to be a screen that could be mounted and dismantled easily and quickly. Since users would have to book in advance and pay for this installation service (new) it was also important to keep the costs low. Last year MMS IS (Infrastructure & Support) chose and evaluated the special projection screen that fit all criteria.
At this point, we would like to thank all those who helped carry the heavy screen by foot into the two-story auditorium. Your efforts are sure to be appreciated by the many visitors attending various events in the Aula.
