Update to WordPress 3.2

WordPress 3.2 was released on July 4th. The WordPress software on http://blogs.ethz.ch will be updated on Wednesday, July 13th.

Therefore, the Weblog-Service will be unavailable on July 13th between 06:00 and 08:00 AM.

A copy of http://blogs.ethz.ch, as it was on July 9th, 2011 22:30, is available for functionality tests under http://blogt.ethz.ch.

Maintenance work on June 1th and 2nd 2011

Due to maintenance work on the NAS (Network Attached Storage), the weblog service will be unavailable on June 1th from 19:00 until 07:00 on the following morning.

System maintenance is scheduled on 13 May 2011 from 06:00 until 06:30. During this time, the Weblog Service will be down and all Blogs are inaccessible.
We hope to get somewhat better response times in WordPress 3.1.2 with this maintenance work.

We will update the productive instance blogs.ethz.ch to WordPress 3.1.1 on Thursday, 28th April 2011. While the update is in progress, blogs.ethz.ch will be offline between 6 am and 8 am.

We will update the productive instance blogs.ethz.ch to WordPress 3.0.1 on Monday, 11th October 2010. While the update is in progress, blogs.ethz.ch will be offline the whole Monday.

Update WordPress MU 2.6.5 –> WordPress 3.0.1

Currently we are heavily testing the new version 3.0.1 of our WordPress blog system. If the tests are successful, we plan to update on October 4.

The update schedule within the next days:

27. September 2010: A copy of the whole blogs.ethz.ch installation will be done which will be accessible on blogt.ethz.ch. We will then perform the update procedure on blogt.ethz.ch.
27. September 2010: All Weblog-owners will receive a mail asking them to test their updated blog(s) on blogt.ethz.ch. Please report immediately any issues to us regarding the update.
4. October 2010: We will update the productive instance blogs.ethz.ch to WordPress 3.0.1 if we don’t face any serve issues during the test week. While the update procedure is going on, blogs.ethz.ch will be offline the whole day

If we should have to change the schedule, we would inform you with a new posting on this weblog.

A system upgrade on the server infrastucture which hosts this Weblog Service is scheduled from 15 April 2010 18:45 until 16 April 2010 00:15. During this time, the Weblog Service will be down and all Blogs are inaccessible.

Weblog service a little bit faster

With the system maintenance work on this morning (migrating the WordPress MU database back form MySQL 5.x–>MySQL 4.x) , we could not solve the performance problem completely. Nevertheless, we could speed up the response times of our weblog service noticeably

The performance problem of our weblog service is still persistent.
With the scheduled system maintenance work on Monday, we hope to get the
service as fast as it was before the update to WordPress MU 2.6.5.

German, English and a little bit faster

We managed to speed up our weblog service slightly, although the performance problem is not solved yet. Besides that, we implemented a long awaited feature: the German language pack. Choose between English or German as your weblog language in the “Settings” section of you blog.
